Joseph I. Balat is a proud native Houstonian. He was born November 3rd, 1978, and graduated from Trinity University in 2000 with a B.A. in History. Joseph received his J.D. in 2003 from St. Mary's University School of Law. While in law school, Joseph was a co-founder and first president of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Association, as well as a two time recipient of the Dean's Leadership Award.
Joseph is an experienced trial lawyer and represents both plaintiffs and defendants in various areas of litigation. Joseph has represented clients in cases involving catastrophic injury, deceptive trade practices, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, employment disputes, premises liability, landlord/tenant disputes, and fraud. Joseph represents clients on both sides of the bar in several federal court cases as well, including ADA compliance cases and mass tort litigation. Joseph’s practice involves defense of alleged physician malpractice, products liability, and assists physicians with Texas Medical Board actions.
Joseph is licensed to practice in Texas state and federal courts. He is also a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association, and Fort Bend Bar Association.
Joseph enjoys travel, film, reading, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
